Carla holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Bond University, where she graduated with a number of First in Class and Dean’s List of Academic Excellence awards.

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, she is passionate about the city and the issues faced by young professionals. For over 5 years, Carla served as a board member for YP Gold Coast - the city’s leading advocacy group which aims to motivate, inspire and connect future city leaders. Recently, she was appointed as a Board Director for Gold Coast Eisteddfod - the leading performing arts competition for youth in Australia.

 

Carla is a well-regarded professional singer and actor. Some of her credits include guest starring on children’s television series Toybox, appearing in the Schapelle telemovie, performing as Mrs Banks in The Arts Centre Gold Coast’s production of Mary Poppins, and taking on the lead role alongside Joe Labero in Jupiters Casino’s 6 month production of Genesis. Other musical theatre credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, Grease, Sound of Music and The King & I. 

 

In her spare time, Carla enjoys cooking, swims at the beach and spending time with family and friends.

For over a decade, Carla kept Gold Coasters up to date with the latest local happenings on-air for 1029 Hot Tomato and online at myGC.com.au. The multi-skilled media personality covered everything from current affairs and public interest stories, through to lifestyle and A-list red carpet events. Some career highlights so far include covering the Logies red carpet, Elvis Movie premiere, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and Magic Millions Carnival.

 

As one of south east Queensland’s most highly sought after MCs, Carla regularly hosts a wide range of events across the region. Quick-witted and well versed, she is as adept at hosting panel discussions with city leaders at business functions, as she is chatting beauty tips with influencers in front of thousands of screaming fans. Some of her most memorable hosting experiences to date include the Australia’s Next Top Model Queensland Auditions, YP Gold Coast’s City Leaders Forum, Pacific Fair’s Beauty Weekend and the Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

 

Carla is deeply committed to giving back to the community and has collaborated with various charity organisations, including the Leukaemia Foundation, Melanoma Institute Australia, and SLDO – Save Lives Donate Organs.
